Janta Vidyalay Khopoli — Concept
About the Project
Janta Vidyalay holds a familiar and established presence within the local fabric of Khopoli.
This architectural concept by Unbuilt Design Studio explores how the institution could be reimagined through a more contemporary and purposeful design language. The vision respects the identity of an educational institution while introducing a stronger architectural presence. A symmetrical façade establishes clarity, order, and a sense of permanence across the composition. The central entrance becomes the primary visual anchor, creating a clear and welcoming point of arrival. Vertical architectural elements emphasize scale while giving the elevation a structured rhythm.
Large openings introduce visual openness and allow the academic spaces to feel connected with the exterior environment. Warm-toned fins and detailed screens add depth and character to the otherwise restrained material palette. Integrated greenery softens the institutional façade and brings a natural layer into the composition. The two illuminated screens at either end create distinctive architectural markers and reinforce the symmetry of the elevation. Neutral surfaces are balanced with darker finishes and warmer accents to create a contemporary yet dignified appearance.
Architectural lighting highlights important elements without overpowering the educational character of the building. The entrance canopy and transparent central portion create a stronger relationship between the arrival space and the institution beyond it. The overall composition avoids excessive ornamentation and instead derives its identity from proportion, repetition, material contrast, and detail. The concept represents Unbuilt Design Studio's architectural vision for how Janta Vidyalay could take on a renewed contemporary identity while remaining recognizably rooted in Khopoli.
